I’m Not Sure Weather Or Not I Believe The Bible!!!?
I am having a hard time believing a book written by man!!! I understand the bible and i’ve read it but am still having problems. It tells about these crazy feats that happened and they are outrageous! Second of all people go to church and believe that moses parted the red sea and jesus walked on water. Then take those same people out of the church setting and let someone tell them that jesus talk to them and into the straight jacket you go! Also where did the dinosaurs get mentioned etc etc etc Hard to believe that a book written by man thousand of years ago is true and that jesus might have just been another david blaine with a sales pitch!!!

The Bible is the Word of God, not some crazed books conjured up by man. Who wants to read about God being ticked off at Israel for 75% of a Holy book?
Jesus was the Son of God. Walking on water wasn’t just something for fun, it was to show what could be done if a human had faith. Obviously, his apostle didn’t and sunk.
Some scholars interpret dinosaur like creatures to be mentioned in the book of Job.
Why don’t you take your questions to a local priest or pastor if you are that curious. You’d be surprised that they have the answer to all you are searching for.
You’re on your first step to becoming a freethinking individual. Congratulations!
And welcome to the dark side.
PS…”god” is a pathological liar.
Good!!! I arrived at this point when I was 12 yo. That was 53 years ago.
Ask questions. The failing of many of the ‘faithful’ is that they simply accept everything that is qwritten in this book, whichever of the 2000 versions it happens to be. One has to understand that the original writings were already an exaggeratioin when they were written and, as in Chinese Whispers, they become even more exaggerated as each translation is made.
The bible is generally seen as a book of ‘fables’, intended to teach simple people how to live in a civilised fashion and encouraged to do so through fear – fear of a fictitious hell.
That should be enough to explain it all but once you accept the fact that this ‘latest’ fabrication of a supernatural entity is just that – all in the mind – everything else attached to the concept collapses.
Thor was elbowed. Zeus was sacked. Ra went out of favour. This one will go the same way eventually BUT the myth is being perpetuated through the indoctrination of highly-impressionable children by their parents. Not good.
I live amongst a very religious society, predominantly Catholic, here in the Philippines. When asked, most people here totally accept every word of their bible as fact. They never question. They are either afraid to or never think about it. Fantasy-land.
Atheism is the only logical and reasonable lifestyle choice for the educated and sophisticated. Do try it. It is remarkably ‘freeing’.
Good luck with your thought patterns!
Funny thing though is that you study math books, english, science, etc., all also written by man ages ago – yet you wouldn’t spend a minute second guessing that 1 + 1=2
What webs Satan weaves in our minds.
Get on YouTube or Google videos and watch some stuff from Kent Hovind. He explains it well. Watch his dinosaur part and you’ll understand much more.
If you think the Bible is false cause it was written by man!! as you put it…..look around, name a book that isn’t written by man. But only the Bible can claim it has lasted for thousands of years, through millions if not billions of men, through wars, destruction of countries, poverty, riches, hunger….and it still remains.

Are you calling God a liar?
That is strictly up to you, nobody can make you. It’s sad.– If there anything I could say or do, I would.
Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean it’s not true. You really came to the wrong place to get that understanding, as all the unbelievers will bash God and Christianity on here, which could only confuse you more.
You have to understand some things and think while your reading this…such as: the age, the custom, the traditions, the geographical regions, the surroundings, and you have to learn how to rightly divide The Bible to discern what it says. You need the assistance of someone there close to you who can show you these things. A good church with a good youth pastor is a great place to start. PEACE!!!
The key is the Holy Ghost — the Holy Ghost can tell you when things are true. The Holy Ghost gives us feelings of happiness, peace, comfort, love, etc. When you read the Bible, you can feel these things because the Holy Ghost is testifying to you that what you’re reading is true.
That’s good. You’re thinking.
one of If you read about Abraham (Genesis) he commits incest (marries his half-sister) lies to two different powerful figures (the Pharaoh (of the time) and a king), attempts murder on his son and gets his sister-wife’s maid pregnant. Then kicks her out. Three religions all have this man as the original founding father of their religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) and think of him as an exceedingly holy man, even though all three religions would be horrified by these acts.
But, if you take it (the bible) as a bunch of metaphors, there are some good stories. Just don’t try to view them as historical b/c then they don’t make sense. I think Gnostic Christianity works along those lines. It concentrates mostly on what happens after JC and doesn’t discuss the OT very much. It’s a much more ‘equal-opportunity’ set of teachings. For instance, Mary Magdalene is considered Jesus’ closest disciple and other women are talked about more. In the OT, homosexuality is discussed-is not at all in the NT. Slavery is talked about in the OT, not much is said in the NT but i is used in some of Jesus’ parables. Overall, it ‘teaches, not preaches’.
If God has intended that man should learn His religion from a book, the Bible, surely God would have given that book to man. Christ would have given that book to man. Did He do it? He did not. Christ sent His Apostles throughout the whole universe and said, “Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
Christ did not say, “Sit down and write Bibles and scatter them over the earth, and let every man read his Bible and judge for himself.” If Christ had said that, there would never have been a Christianity on the earth at all, but a Babylon and confusion instead, and never one Church, the union of one body. Hence, Christ never said to His Apostles, “Go and write Bibles and distribute them, and let everyone judge for himself.” That injunction was reserved for the Sixteenth Century, and we have seen the result of it. Ever since the Sixteenth Century there have been springing up religion upon religion, and churches upon churches, all fighting and quarreling with one another, and all because of the private interpretation of the Bible.
Christ sent His Apostles with authority to teach all nations, and never gave them any command of writing the Bible. And the Apostles went forth and preached everywhere, and planted the Church of God throughout the earth, but never thought of writing.
Up to that time the whole world for three hundred years did not know what the Bible was. Hence, they could not take the Bible for their guide, for they did not know what constituted the Bible. Would our Divine Saviour, if He intended man to learn his religion from a book, have left the Christian world for three hundred years without that book? Most assuredly not.
It is Divine Faith alone by which we give honor and glory to God, by which we adore His infinite wisdom and veracity. That adoration and worship is necessary for salvation.
We must have Faith in order to be saved, and we must have Divine Faith, not human faith. Human faith will not save a man, but only Divine Faith. What is Divine Faith? It is to believe, upon the authority of God, the truths that God has revealed, that is Divine Faith. To believe all that God has taught upon the authority of God, and to believe without doubting, without hesitation. For the moment you begin to doubt or hesitate, that moment you begin to mistrust the authority of God, and, therefore, insult God by doubting His word. Divine Faith, therefore, is to believe without doubting and without hesitating. Human faith is belief upon the authority of men, on human authority. But Divine Faith is to believe without doubting, without hesitating, whatsoever God has revealed upon the authority of God, upon the Word of God.
It’s a mix of myth, legend and history with a lot of “spin”. It is neither complete nor perfectly accurate. It remains a pillar of Western culture. Never let its contents blind you.
Read the God Delusion (Richard Dawkins) before it’s too late, and you slip into the delusion of the Bible!
Don’t be fooled, it’s all a lie.
As the book to prove it to you.
That exact idea, plus a little more, is the basis for agnosticism and atheism. Keep on questioning, it will get you far in life.
well it may have been written by 40 men but they were guided by jehovah god.like a secretary types down her bosses thoughts.
One cannot have God for his Father, who will not have the Church for his Mother, and likewise, one cannot have the Word of God for his faith who will not have the Church for his teacher. It is the infallible teaching authority of the Church, as promised by Christ, which alone preserves God’s Word from erroneous interpretation.
I have no ability to suspend reality enough to believe that book is true.
Am I calling God a liar? No. I am calling people who say God asked them to write a book, liars.
In 2,000 years Joseph Smith will be second to god in some people’s eyes. Geez
If you believe the world is flat and that the sun revolves around the earth, then you believe in the Bible. If you don’t, then you are calling God a liar, according to the Christians.
