More Harry Potter! No Haters Please, Remus And Tonk’s Relationship?
Okay, so I’d say I’m about as avid a Harry Potter fan can be, and my favorite characters are divided into several groups. Of Death Eaters it’s Regulus Black, because he died a protagonist after all. Of Teachers (Excluding DADA) It would be McGonagall. Of DADA teachers, It would be Remus. My favorite Order Members would be Tonks and Moody. The Weasley family is my favorite family, and the Trio is a favorite group in general.
So I’ve been thinking lately (I’m a bit of a thinker) that for books that can be classified as (page behind the illustrated title page of Chamber of Secrets) Wizards, Magic, School, and England there is a fair bit of romance. From early in the series, girls always have been a bit infatuated with Harry, seeing as he defeated the Dark Lord, and Ginny Weasley was the first real taste of this. Also, starting in 3rd year, you can see Harry developing a crush on Cho Chang, which continues into 5th year. And then from the first book, you can see how much Ron means to Hermione (Crying in the bathroom because of something he said, consequentially getting in a situation with a mountain troll) and this continues throughout the series, even when Hermione was in a bit of a relationship with Viktor Krum. In the sixth book, Ron has a superficial relationship with Lavender Brown, and Harry develops feelings for Ginny, who had also dated 2 boys before him.
Now, all these relationships are fun and all, but none of these characters were seen mainly as a relationship. Remus and Tonks, however, just seem like the little tragic love story that held a bit of light in a dark and stormy war. I think maybe that’s why I feel such a strong pull for their canon relationship, while I find dm/hg and hp/cc stories still interesting. Maybe it’s the seemingly uunrequitedlove Tonks has for Remus that makes their story interesting. Or, maybe it’s because there isn’t much information given, and you’re free to fill in the gaps with your own imagination. Either way, Remus and Tonks certainly are my favorite couple in the series. Any thoughts or comments on the aspects of their relationship, or why you like the pairing? I love reading speculations=]
Also, I thought I might add it here: I find it absolutely adorable how the first time Harry ever sees Ginny, she’s a 10 year old asking her mum why she can’t go to Hogwarts with her brothers, then when you pick up in the epilogue to Deathly Hallows, you see her 26 years later as Harry’s wife, their daughter asking why she can’t go to Hogwarts with her brothers. Okay, now I’m done with my spiel. I want comments and thoughts=]

I agree! I love Remus/Tonks. They too are my favorite couple. They are perfect for each other! The snogging lol. I cried when they died. They had such a short time together, and with their son.
Yeah, I think Ginny is sweet, but independent. She’s so cute in the first movie, though!
Sirius/Lupin? EEEEEWWWWWW
i love remus and tonk’s. they were somehow perfect for each other. i cried when both of them died. also when remus (after remus was dead) was talking to harry about his son.
personally i love this relationship and your right the others are like first love i like the pairing it is a bit of a romeo/juliet thing with them. i don’t think it is entirely unrequited i think Remus just feels she could do better and the fact he is a werewolf and might potentially hurt her is the only thing going against them.
What would have been cool re Remus and Tonks….
You know how lots of people suspect that Remus and Sirius were actually in love, well it would have been cool if they had been, and then following Sirius’s death, Remus was so distraught that he married Tonks only so he could use the Imperio curse to force her to change shape into Sirius. And then he continues living with fake!Sirius as though he is real (ie Tonks remains under the Imperio curse, like how Barty Crouch Jnr was)
The was beautifully put.
i agree with you, although there IS romance amongst the students, it is not the same as Nymphadora and Remus. i found is quite amazing whilst reading the book. to me it was unexpected, but its really the only true love story in the entire series. the love amongst the students make me giggle, but with them its if so, soothing.
now Tonks is quite young, and Lupin reasonably old, so i was confused as to why they would be a pair, because of their age difference, but it is beautiful. And Tonks is always by Lupins side, especially when it is the full moon.
Lupin and Tonks, a Pink haired werewolf.
i agree with you, i really don’t like the Harry and Draco slash. But i am happy that JK made Dumbledore Gay.
I love Tonks and Remus, because it opened up Remus, it let him realize that he wasn’t a monster, and that he deserved love, and that someone was able to love him back even when they know his secret. Plus, they’re just so cute.
Note: I also *do* like Sirius/Remus, (though not as much as Remus/Tonks) and I think that it *can* work. Sirius is only a ladies man in fanfiction. It’s not really canon, just fanon. In the books, it said he was very handsome, and that all the girls would stare at him, but he wouldn’t pay them any attention (Harry thought it was because Sirius knew that they only liked him for his looks, and Harry empathized with him, because most girls only like Harry for his fame). I think they’d be good together, because they’d balance each other out: Remus would keep Sirius out of too much trouble, and Sirius would make sure Remus had fun once in a while. But I think, that if that had ever happened, it would have only happened in Marauder era, and that Remus and Tonks would end up together anyways
