Karin Maaka is the middle child in a family of vampires who immigrated to Japan two centuries earlier. Unlike the rest of her family, Karin does not feed on blood, she produces it. As a result, she is forced to bite others to expel the extra blood, lest she suffer exaggerated nose-bleeds. She also exhibits no normal vampire traits, and instead lives her life just as an ordinary teenage girl would. She can go outside during the day, attends high school, and follows the sleep pattern of normal humans. However, the general peacefulness of her life is disrupted with the arrival of a new transfer student, Kenta Usui.
Any time she goes near him her blood increases. At first she tries to avoid him but they are in the same class and work in the same restaurant. Kenta begins to think that there is something fishy about Karin and eventually he learns her secret. Karin’s elder brother Ren tries to erase his memory but Anju, Karin’s younger sister, stops him from doing so. She convinces their parents Henry and Calera to make Kenta their ally, because he can help Karin during the daylight. Karin and Kenta become friends, and as they spend more time with on another, fall in love, though they are slow to admit their feelings to one another.

School Rumble is a romantic comedy that depicts the daily lives of students attending the fictional Yagami High School Class 2-C, their friends and their families. The manga uses exaggerated scenes for comedic purposes, often disregarding reality for the purposes of gags. Sometimes an entire chapter can be a setup for one joke.
The main female protagonist is Tenma Tsukamoto, a second-year high school student with no special qualities,[1] who crushes on the eccentric enigmatic nice guy, Oji Karasuma.[2] Tenma finds it difficult to confess her love to Karasuma and he appears oblivious to her romantic feelings being content with a plate of curry. Complicating the narrative is the main male protagonist, Kenji Harima, a delinquent, whose crush on Tenma has developed to the point that he attends school just to be near her.[3] Harima also has difficulty directly confessing his love to Tenma, and when he works up the courage circumstances conspire against him.[4] The attempts of the two protagonists to confess their respective loves are running gags throughout the series.
As the series progresses, the love triangle evolves due to mistakes by Harima and misinterpretations by Tenma and their classmates. A relationship develops between Harima and Tenma’s close friend, Eri Sawachika, resulting from embarrassing situations involving both of them. Later in the series, Harima also develops a relationship with Tenma’s younger sister, Yakumo Tsukamoto, who becomes Harima’s assistant for his manga. This causes problems between Harima and Haruki Hanai, who has a crush on Yakumo. Harima and Hanai misinterpret the others’ infatuations because the two sisters share the same surname. Although Harima gets himself into romantic situations with Tenma, the relationship between Tenma and Karasuma progresses while Eri’s and Yakumo’s bonds with Harima grow stronger. Eventually Tenma manages to muster the courage to confess her love to Karasuma, however shortly thereafter he loses his memory. Karasuma’s memory loss gives a purpose to Tenma’s life and causes her to focus on studying in order to become a doctor so she can help Karasuma.
While the story focuses on Harima, Tenma and the relationships that revolve around them, the story deals with other characters’ relationships. Other supporting characters include the rest of Tenma’s friends, Mikoto Suo, who runs a kenp? dojo where her childhood friend Hanai, trains and Akira Takano, a mysterious and uncannily perceptive girl with who leads a double-life. As the story progresses, more major supporting characters are brought into the relationship web.
The ending occurs at class 2-C’s graduation ceremony with most of the relationships having been resolved before then. However, no there is clear resolution for the main love triangle; Karasuma still has the memory loss, and while Harima attends the ceremony with Eri, the relationship with Yakumo is not clearly resolved.
