Should I Quit Playing/learning Magic Tricks To Playing Cards?
I just bought a pack of 52 playing cards 3 days before, and I planned on using it as learning magic tricks. I now know many magic tricks, even a long past david blaine trick, and Its pretty cool showing off to my school friends. Sometimes I’d play crazy eights with my little brother at home (age 5, pretty good at it. Beat me 3 times0.o) and my mom noticed that… She said that she doesn’t like to see me playing the cards, because it can promote gambling when I get older. Although I hate gambling, she says if I get older it’ll come. She doesn’t ban me from it, just hates me playing it. I love learning more tricks, but should I quit playing/learning magic tricks with them?
why should you quit? if you like doing it. then have fun doing it. it is true it can lead to hard gambling. but if you have discipline you should be fine. ive done it myself. i have been playing cards since i was a kid and am currently a studying card shark, but i never cheated in card games. acturally i have never played in any official gambling establishments.i use my card shark skills as a magic routine.
so just because one is connected to another doesnt mean they are cause and effect. your personal strength is a big factor. people can live in vegas and not be gamblers. personal choice determines that.
Jeremy, talk to your mother. Just playing cards and learning magic tricks won’t make you want to gamble. In fact, if you are any good at the magic, most of your friends won’t want to play cards with you. If mom doesn’t want you to play cards, does she have any objection to you using them for learning the magic? If she has any questions for me, I would be glad to answer them.
tell your mother that there is alot of worse things that you could be doing other than playing cards…
drugs, fighting, jail come to mind
tell her the internet told her to chill out.
