I’m a no on this, mostly for the seperation of church and state thing.
Whether or not you’ve read and liked Harry Potter (I do), or whether or not you believe in magic (I do), the fact is you would be pushing a belief on people who could feel the opposite. Many, many Christians look fearfully upon magic and for some it’s a very dangerous topic in a public setting. (Here aside, I’m pretty sure anything goes here =P)
No it would take the mystery away and then there woudln’t be any magic.
I guess schools already teach about magic in terms of poetry and literature – I remember science experiments at school seeming very magickal especially physics experments which rarely worked and needed all our hope and concentration to force the charged ebonite rod to repel the other so the poor physics teacher wasn’t once again humiliated by the lack of her arts.
No, but they should teach meditation etc.. Could help with studies.
I think personally in religious education alongside teaching;
Islam
Judaism
Christianity
Hinduism
and Bhuddism
they should also inform students of alternatve religions like scientology, wicca etc… If not actually teaching people how to create spells then to give brief history of the subject.
Not all religion is good.
Therefore children need to learn…
No, and nor should they teach that very similar thing- religion.
There’s not enough time to teach them facts, let alone make-believe.
Hektor: ” a rational argument to explain your senseless contempt towards God.”
Keep trying, one day you will come up with a rational argument for your belief in angry and sadistic sky-faeries.
Hektor, “Atheist” means no belief in gods. It doesn’t mean “contempt of god” and you know it, troll. What you’re doing is called lying and misrepresenting.
Hektor’s morals <—– lol@
It would be a start if useful school subjects were concentrated on. The problem is that religionists don’t see their magic as ‘magic’ at all, once they’ve assumed the object of the magic is real, it’s justified.
Ahh, the bliss of tautological reasoning.
Sure, if you open a Harry Potter school.
Christian schools teach Christianity. No-one else.
Keep on trying, angsty atheists. One day you’ll come up with a rational argument to explain your senseless contempt towards God.
Hell yes!
I’m too old for an acceptance letter from Hogwarts (it was the one thing I truly wanted for my 11th birthday, no joke)
so we must teach it!
=] =]
No…
2 Chronicles 33:6
And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
Hwen in the history of man has magic ever been of god or used for anything but to control and corrupt and destroy. God’s gift is love. Evrything else is attached to the destroyer and will destroy you.
Why not? Churches do.

Just learn energy-manipulation and black-magick for yourself. The mind powers are very real.

I’m not sure about magic but i think they should teach about paganism/shamanism and that some belief structures use magic in there rituals
Magician schools should. What if clown college didn’t teach you how to be a clown? Not a very good educational value, I would say.
Why not Harry Potter, chemical concoctions from possibly alien-seeded primordial oceans sprang to life, etc.
Yeah, so we can scream “CRUCIO” at the Westboro Baptist Church members whenever they get too cocky at funerals.
Sure! Flying around on broomsticks would be MUCH more fun than what I did at school – which consisted mainly of trying to avoid it.
No but Harry Potter should be part of the curriculum. Awesome books.
Harry Potter isn’t real, sadley. But witchcraft is and if you are refering to that I’ed spell it Magick if I was you.
Um, no. They could blow something up.
Edit: And we separate church and state, thanks, atheist.
I think they should teach Buddhist philosophy.
Alakazam !
they did at my school.
*vanishes mysteriously*
No different to them teaching things like RE.
Hell that might actually make me like school
of course! school will be a fun place!
no………
it would be great fun
