You cant really answer this because you dont know. All you know is what you have been told.Try and correct me but you know no more than me.What because you read the bible you think you know everything about god ? I read harry potter and i know everything about harry potter does that mean that a magic school really exists and i can learn how to perform magic with my wand and fly?
Why Do Alot Of People Belive The Bible But Not In Reality?
Ok the bible has alot of stories of obvious primative human imagination to give morals and meaning to life to ease everyone but how comes 2000s years later people are still believing this im 17 and no for sure it is not real. Probly Jesus was a real man but was what we would called today David blaine a magcian but got the attention of a fan who would later write a book which many worship. On the other hand some of the same people are quick to say the powers of Vodou are not real or talking to the dead is impossible & supernatural is not real which I know for sure is real because I have witnessed this first hand and I am not easily fooled. I say if we don’t forget all religions they are all going to evolve into extremeisim and play a major role in the greater evolution of human on human killing. I say not one man can be special like jesus was portrayed
When Children Learn About The Bible Is It Really Fair Not To Teach Them All The Horrible Stuff It Contains?
When ever I learned about the bible and “god” as a child all the stories where those that played on the imagination – stories of magic by God (creation complete with talking snake, Noah, Moses and the Red Sea, Samson and his long hair, David and Goliath, Jesus walking on water and generally being David Blaine).
Never did I learn of the Levite sending his concubine out to be gang raped, or the man being stoned to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath, or Adulterers being stoned to death, or the wars where God commanded that women and children be slaughtered.
If I had learned these I would have rejected God much earlier.
Is this a typical religious indoctrination tactic for child recruitment? Isn’t this a bit like hiding the small print?
I’m Not Sure Weather Or Not I Believe The Bible!!!?
I am having a hard time believing a book written by man!!! I understand the bible and i’ve read it but am still having problems. It tells about these crazy feats that happened and they are outrageous! Second of all people go to church and believe that moses parted the red sea and jesus walked on water. Then take those same people out of the church setting and let someone tell them that jesus talk to them and into the straight jacket you go! Also where did the dinosaurs get mentioned etc etc etc Hard to believe that a book written by man thousand of years ago is true and that jesus might have just been another david blaine with a sales pitch!!!
Does The Bible Need To Be Taken Literally Word For Word And Also Does It Need To Be Taken As Absolute Truth?
The Bible was written by men/humans who we all know we are liable to lie, exaggerate, invent, create and contrive stories. The Old testament was written at a time when before that for many centuries humans have made and worshipped all kinds of Gods to explain our being here, so it was no original idea by the time of the Old Testament of a God who ruled over man. IF the Old Testament had been the FIRST idea with claim of a God, it’s testament would stand stronger because the idea would have been original and then it wouldn’t have seem like somebody took one theory and then made it into another. But the fact is it wasn’t, it was an idea that tried and managed to rubbish all other previous similar ideas prior to that with the same initial idea of a God.
An example would be like an author who wrote a story about a little boy, dressed in blue who went to visit his granny, trekking through the woods met a grizzly bear who asked where he was going, the bear then proceeded toward the grannys house before the boy got there, ate the granny and dressed up in the grannys clothes to deceive the little boy whenever he would arrive. Then say, another author wrote a book quite similar only the boy was a girl, she was dressed in red and the grizzly bear was a wolf. I’m sure by now you see where I’m going with this, the ideas of the stories are similar but the problem is the second author couldn’t have come up with his story unless he was inspired by the previous authors ideas first, of course the story could change and take several u-turns but the same myth would still be there. Other stories can then be built around the second authors tale.
Also does every thing in the bible need to be taken literally? maybe I was educated badly in terms of religion, being born a catholic, in primary school we were taught that a lot of the stories in the bible like Adam and Even and Noahs Ark were all parables = stories with a moral meaning, that were not meant to be contrived as fact. So why do creationists and many Christians believe these to be actual accounts when we were taught otherwise?
As far as the New Testament goes it is my understanding that “Paul” was the first written account, but yet this wasn’t recorded until 30 to 40 years AFTER the supposed death of Jesus. That’s a long enough time for stories to change, if Jesus did exist how can you believe what is written down and what Jesus said is 100 percent accurate? Is it possible that these stories were invented, exaggerated or contrived? If Jesus did exist could he have been a David Blaine of his time? We’ve seen many magicians, illusionists, healers in ours, I mean it is possible. Inspiration can come from people who have the gift of persuasion, in opposite moral grounds Hitler managed to persuade his people into following his way of authority and the general German public bought it.
You can say it was prophesised in the Old Testament of Jesus coming, but how can it be prophecy when someone is acting out on something that was previously written down, this can easily just be acting on instruction.
After “Paul” did other people inspired by the story of Jesus start to add their own accounts in this continuation of his fact/fictional biography, inventing, exaggerating and contriving new tales? Again it’s plausible.
The bible was written in Greek and Hebrew, was there miscalculation in its translation? Morals passed off with misleading meaning? Even in its English form I have trouble interpreting Bible literature. Various Christian religions even have trouble coming to agreement with each other about many of the Bibles Teachings.
I don’t understand how Christians can take all of this as 100 percent accurate information when there is enough room for doubt about what is true and what is not true. Even historians can’t perceive 100 percent accuracy when studying the past as they can only take what information is given to them hoping that their conclusions is somewhat accurate although a lot of times, not entirely.
You can throw as many quotes from the bible at me referencing to prove me wrong and say it’s the word of God, but really it is NOT the word of God, it is mans supposed account of the word of God. God did not write the bible, neither did Jesus, men did, men as I already said who are liable to lie, exaggerate; contrive making the Bible plausible enough to not be true. God did not speak to YOU, he supposedly spoke to THEM, so you are left in a situation were you have to take THEIR word for granted, if you are happy to always rely on third party information as fact, well so be it.
From one story, inspiration can lead into creation of another story and what you are left with now is a Bible with many accounts of plausible lies, not trustworthy 100 percent accurate information, with stories so insane there is a helluva lot more reason to doubt rather than believe.
How Christians have a hard time understanding why atheists can lack or have little faith in believing the word of the bible is beyond me. When bibles terms come across like a con artist, have faith or be punished in the pits of hell, kind of seems like an immediate guilt trip forcing you into submission to believe everything it tries to preach.
I await to hear your answers and so I leave you with the words, “Do you always believe everything you read?”
Why Do You Trust What The Authors Of The Bible Say?
They are MEN, and not only that, they lived in an ancient time, a time full of superstition, and they had no formal education. Imagine if those people saw someone like David Blaine or (spelling) Chris Angel? Would they mistake them for gods? Couldn’t these simple people have made mistakes? Could the story of god and jesus have been exaggerated as it passed by word of mouth?
Has A Modern Day Magician Such As The Great Ramsi (spelling?) Ever Recreated The Miracles In The Bible?
Such as the rod to a snake; parting of sea (even a small body of water); walking on water; wine to blood, etc. What about David Blaine or Copperfield?
