On the Oprah show David Blaine is attempting to hold his breath for over 16 minutes to break the world record live. Tune in it will be taking place within the hour. How is this possible? Don’t you begin to black out after a few minutes? You lose consciousness well before 16 minutes. Someone in my area recently died from an accidental hanging. He suffered for 16 minutes? If I were to drown to death I would have to suffer for a prolonged period of time. I thought things would end within 3 minutes. All answers are GREATLY appreciated.

the world records are confusing however it is david blaine

who held it for 15 minutes and 2 seconds.
however that was all with the assistance of pre inhaled Oxygen
but he dos hold The world record for breath being held under water without the assistance of inhaled oxygen and it stands at nine minutes and eight seconds

Well my physio teacher happend to watch the Oprah show and saw David Blaine hold his breath for what, 17 minutes? and he asked the class to write a paper about how he did it and what systems were being affected and what was going on in his body while he was underwater. How can i beat the record i seen david blaine do it so obviously i can do it too!! If i fill my bathtub with water, meditate, grab a plugged electric razor and take it with my when i go inside the batthub will i be able to set a new world record??

David Blaine can apparently hold his breath for five minutes, but how long is the shortest length before you can begin to think there is something not right with your lungs? 10 seconds? 20 seconds? etc..?

I am a magician, so ever since I saw David Blaine’s Drowned Alive stunt, I have been training for my own breath hold stunt. I have been training for nearly a year now, and I can hold my breath UNDERWATER for several minutes on average. My best time was 4:29. How long can you hold for?
