Old Charles Dickens Books, Any Value?

January 23, 2010 by admin

I found a handful of really old Charles Dickens books titled ‘Tale of two Cities’, Huckleberry Finn and David Copperfield. They dont have any copyright dates on them, every page is all brown and really crispy. I tired ebay to see if I could find a look-a-like but no luck. I tried searching Google but came up empty handed. All Google had was where to buy the books and history of the author. Can anyone suggest where to look to see about how old they are and if they hold any value? Thanks!

Hahha hi :)
So I needa read a book over the summer for English class and I first choose David Copperfield by Charles Dickens and I couldn’t really well understand it haha. It was written kinda weird for me. But I really wanna read a Charles Dickens book, so the other option was Great Expectations. And I don’t wanna buy another book that I don’t like because I’ve got like a month left to read it. So I was wondering if it was good and easy to understand? Could you please tell me what you thought of it without giving it away? Thanks a bunch :D
(Gosh, that was long ^)

My work allows me to take 45 minutes each weekday to eat lunch and read. I’m thinking of reading a Dickens novel but I’m not sure which one. My choices are:
Great Expectations
David Copperfield
Bleak House
Little Dorrit
Which one should I bring to work on Monday? Why?
Of course, ten points for best answer!

Is Saving Dickens’ ‘our Mutual Friend’ To Be The Last Book You Ever Read…?

…some sort of common Dickens’ superstition or is that something the author John Irving thought up and JJ Abrams borrowed for Desmond on Lost?
I’m looking to read a REALLY good Dickens’ novel that hasn’t been turned into a classic or many repeated movie (Great Exp, Christmas Carol, David Copperfield) and that hasn’t been made into a recent miniseries (Bleak House, Little Dorrit – both were great). I’m left with Our Mutual Friend but I heard about John Irving saving it as the last book he’ll ever read. I’m more than a little superstitious. Is it cursed? Or is it that good?
