David Blaine can apparently hold his breath for five minutes, but how long is the shortest length before you can begin to think there is something not right with your lungs? 10 seconds? 20 seconds? etc..?

i’d say with not breath holding experience..one should be able to for at least 30 seconds

  2. DF says:

At least a minute without training. Longer with practise.
The world record for static apnea (holding breath in a pool, while relaxed) is 8 minutes for women, 9 minutes for men.

  3. Nathan I says:

the longest time spent under water by a human is 17:04.4. by David Blaine. This is the offcial Guiness world record.

  4. Cory says:

No, the average human can hold their breath for about 1 minute still concious. After two minutes, you are more than likely unconcious, and helpless, but not dead. I seriously doubt anyone can hold their breath for 5 minutes

7 seconds is critical for an asthmatics – they should be in a hospital.
40 seconds is almost impossible to have an asthma attack with.

There is a woman called Tanya, that can hold her breath a lot longer, she is underwater diving champion, without using oxygen tanks,

  7. Nikki C says:

if you can’t hold your breath for at least 1 second I would begin to worry
P.S. I once held my breath underwater for just over 3 minutes (not moving and relaxed), usually can hold it for around 1 minute

Well depending on the size of a person but for a teen/adult a person should be able to hold there breathe for a minimum of 30 seconds.

  9. Amarnath C says:

    10 to 15 secs normally.
If you practice /yogasanas…. 4 to 5 minutes or even more.
