Why Do Customers Think They Can Be Always So Rude??

I felt so depressed today at work… I had just started and this guy wanted to pay with a 50 £ note so I asked him if he had any smaller change, and he went “What’s the magic word???”! He wasn’t try to be funny, he was just being patronising and rude. Fine I didn’t say please but my question was as polite as can be…
Then a family came to buy tickets and the kids started making fun of me because of my name, and the stupid mother was just there and knew that I had heard, but she didn’t say anything!! And then we complain that kids are so rude and bad mannered nowadays!! It really made me sad. :(

They do it because they know you cant answer back, you just have to be thick skinned and try not to take things personal. x

because they think they are better than you, or they don’t care about your feelings.
i’m never rude, and i would never be a waitress, not because i think its beneath me, but because i refuse to put up with the crap of other people. who do they think they are? psh.

Can I just say working in customer service sucks most of the time as everyone is really rude. A lady today I was waiting on wouldn’t even speak to me direct and looked at me like dirt. It is so wrong. I feel sorry for you.

Because there is an old saying “the customer is always right”, and people let it go to their heads and take it way too far. They feel good about themselves when they get to put “the help” down. It’s actually pretty pathetic when you think about it.
As for the rudeness of the children, obviously their mother is very low-class, or she would have taught them that what they were doing is wrong.

they think they are better than you because you are serving them…
but the fact is they are frustrated in thier life so take it out on people who dont matter to them…
keep in mind next time that the reason they are the way they are with you is because they are unhappy…
and remember you did nothing wrong.
as for the kids .. well … there is just no respect these days for a number of reasons both from the home and society in general. maybe if it wasnt illegal to give the odd smack here and there things would be different.
i work in a shop i know how you feel butwe are better than them because we are not so sad or desperate or frustrated that wehave to pick on other people to feel better.
and wat the y hate the worst is a polite person with an unfaultering beaming smile so be nice n wind them up and dont show any signs that they have got to you. then when they have gone you will feel better and they will feel defeated :)
