Why Do You Trust What The Authors Of The Bible Say?
They are MEN, and not only that, they lived in an ancient time, a time full of superstition, and they had no formal education. Imagine if those people saw someone like David Blaine or (spelling) Chris Angel? Would they mistake them for gods? Couldn’t these simple people have made mistakes? Could the story of god and jesus have been exaggerated as it passed by word of mouth?

I don’t trust what they say. They say snakes talk and that anyone who does work on a sunday must be put to death (Exodus 31:15)
I trust what God reveals to me when I read what those authors wrote.
The issue I have with your perspective is that is assumes that a bunch of ancient men, most of whom didn’t even know each other, who lacked formal education and lived in a time when superstition was the only means for explaining most of what they saw, have so much power, that they could pervert or exaggerate or otherwise distort a message that God wants to communicate through their words. You’re basically saying those men were more powerful than God. The way I see it, if God wanted to communicate with someone through an illiterate goat herder, he could do so, and that goat herder couldn’t do thing one to stop that message from getting through.
YES! I do belive what they have said! God had told thoes people to do thoes things that were done. And they were asked to keep record of it which is what the bible and book of morman are. They were asked to write down their acount of what had happened so we people now days had a chance to thearn more about him. That was gods way of teaching and telling each and every one of us that he and heven are real. And it was his way of giving people the choice and chance to do right.
I trust what they say as they were chosen by God to record His thoughts and commandments. God is all knowing and knew He could trust them. God is all powerful and used that power to maintain the accuracy and integrity of His Holy Word.
Miracles of God are not magic, known as slight of hand, that is used by people like Chris Angel and David Blaine. God has the power to bring restoration to the body, elements and events using power that only He possesses and gave to His Son to use while on earth.
considering that the Bible is being thought to be older than once thought, im impressed with their level of writing ability, and the fact that 66 books across the known world could come together so perfectly. to me, thats a clear sign that something is true there. do men make mistakes? of course. doesnt phase me when it comes to God’s word though.
Yes, and no one ever thought as you say until modern times and then mostly atheists who didn’t take the time to investigate. For St Augustine said almost 2000 years ago :
“I would not believe in the Gospel myself if the authority of the Catholic Church did not influence me to do so.”
Against the letter of Mani, 5,6, 397 A.D. — St Augustine
Are you aware there are two versions of the Bible ? Probably not, so the question is right up front, Why do you trust that you know which one is The Bible.
I stop. In my experience poster is usually steaming by now
If what you say is true, than a small group of uneducated Jewish fishermen managed to create the greatest scam in the History of the World.
If they weren’t telling the truth, then their deception is far greater than any miracle they claim Jesus did.
Thus, you indirectly prove that what they said IS true, because it really is impossible. Others have tried it, all have failed….
it’s easy for a non believer to say such…but christians take the book for God’s word and his instructions…and we choose to live our lives by it…so…i trust what the Word says…because i know my God will not lie to me…in revelation…He tells us to follow this book…
Jesus Exaggerated: Surely.
Jesus Non-existent: Not likely.
Because the whole bible is God breathed and so if you believe in the bible you believe in God!
Because the Bible is the Word of God. The men who wrote it were guided by God in doing so. Who am I to argue with God?
Why would someone believe a biologist has some sort of qualification to lecture on theology?
yes, I believe what God said
Word of mouth was not the same then as it is today. You can look at the history within the Bible and people who are true scholars of history WILL say that it is accurate. Even if they don’t believe in God. 2Timothy 3:16 in the Bible says that all Scripture is God-breathed. So, if you believe that there is one true God then you can also believe that He’s capable of holding His own. God is not mocked, He gets the final say.
People have tried to disprove the Bible for a very long time and no one has been able to do that. And it has survived for a very long time, I don’t think that it will be disproved any time soon. There was this story I heard once of a man who set out to disprove the Bible and instead became a Christian. You don’t believe it then you don’t but that’s the choice you make. You should read it for yourself all the way through and come to your decision. I don’t think it’s been exaggerated we’ve just learned to stop believing.
