Wiccans: What Do You Think Of The Video “school For Witches?”?
There’s a video posted on the front page of Yahoo today talking about the recent wiccan lotto winner who is building a school. For those of you who watched, what did you think?
Personally, I think it is a wonderful idea, especially since they aim to teach many forms of belief and magic.
On the other hand, I thought that the fact that the video called Mr. Bartlett’s school a “Real-life Hogwarts” was slightly offensive. Real witchcraft has little to do with Harry Potter and calling his school a “Real-life Hogwarts” makes a mockery of it.
Hey I’m just glad that more and more wiccans are coming out from hiding day after day. If there is actually a school, i dont care what other people call it, i call it fanf***ingtastic. I wish i could go:)
I think the idea is pretty cool.
I agree with your comments about the “real life Hogwarts” being inappropriate, though.
I love the fact that the mainstream media is covering Wicca now.
If this happened 5-10 years ago there would have been no coverage of it. Wicca is becoming more accepted by those who have open minds about other peoples faith
I think it’s wonderful that he’s giving something back, and that a reputable school, with qualified instructors, would be a real asset to the Pagan community in general (since he doesn’t plan to teach just Wicca).
I agree that witchcraft should be taken seriously, particularly by those who practice its art of magic – which is the attempt to control nature &/or people. Effective only by using demonic powers and condemned by the Bible.
I think it is wonderful to have the opportunity for Pagan children to get an education that is also Pagan-based. I love the fact that they will be teaching many different beliefs which allow a child to become a well-rounded, individualized thinker. Referring to it as a “real-life Hogwarts” takes down the credibility a notch but for those that attend, well they will know the difference.
That’s too bad that they put a “Real life Hogwarts.” But in all reality, any kids enrolled there would know what it was really about. I think it would be wonderful. But I have to wonder if the demand is there. We’ll see I suppose.
I don’t think its a good idea. The “real life hogwarts” turns it into a joke. Not only that, but schools make it into an organized religion and one of the beautiful things about wicca is that it isn’t organized.
